The Landesuntersuchungsamt Rhineland-Palatinate (RLP LUA) warns of microbiologically contaminated raw sausage from Italy, which was sold in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Salmonella were detected in the sausage.

These are the following products: sausage Sarda Murru expiration date (SLED) 26/04/10, 28/04/10 and 30/04/10 Lot No. 010522 and 010523

Manufacturer: Salumificio Murru, registration number IT875LCE.

The sausage was delivered in large quantities to a Ludwigshafen-based trader.

However, it is possible that other Rhineland-Palatinate dealers have been supplied.

The food control authorities have assured all findable remnants.

Consumers who have these sausages at home, should not eat them and return them to the dealer they purchased it.

A "salmonella infection can cause diarrhea, abdominal pain and vomiting in certain individuals and groups such as infants and young children and in elderly and immunocompromised patients may be caused serious illnesses.
